DABGO Facebook Group

November 4th, 2007 by Jesper Løvendahl

With the many possibilities of networking online both for business and socially we have created an open global DABGO group on Facebook, which is the best functioning social network site available. The network is more focused on all the social aspects of life and does not have the business functionalities of Linkedin, so in a sense they compliment each other well.

Networking is vital for successful managers

October 10th, 2007 by Jesper Løvendahl

“Managers today juggle more responsibilities than ever and for many of them networking becomes an afterthought. Herminia Ibarra, INSEAD Professor of Organisational Behaviour says that’s a potentially fatal career mistake. “What you know is who you know,” she says and warns that managers who neglect to build their networks risk failing or remaining stuck in middle management.”

We have earlier this year posted a link to Herminia Ibarra’s article, but on the following page you will find an audio interview which I encourage you to listen to. Clink here to read and listen.

5 Places You Should Never Meet With Clients

September 24th, 2007 by Jesper Løvendahl

The office square feet in the big cities of the US might be so expensive, that you might feel that meeting your clients on “neutral” ground is better than showing them your office. When choosing the meeting venue, make sure not to choose any of the 5 places mentioned in the following article posted on inc.com.

September 1st, 2007 by Jesper Løvendahl

Linkedin has a built in functionality that allows you to save a profile in PDF. As an example you can see my PDF profile here

Here is what this feature can be useful for:

- Forward profile to colleagues / friends who might not be within 3 degrees of the person or have a premium membership.
- You can work with profiles offline.
- File the profile locally making it searchable for yourself and others on the network. Attach to e-mail or snail mails.

The feature is located just above the persons name

The Myth of Networking (Events)

August 29th, 2007 by Jesper Løvendahl

“Many people don’t understand what networking really means or how to take full advantage of the opportunities a networking event presents. If you are really serious about getting what you desire, networking is one very important way to achieve it. But, before you choose your next networking event, answer these questions to improve your results.”

- What is your product or service?
- Who is your ideal client?
- What organizations, associations or events attract your ideal client?
- What is your primary objective in attending your next networking event?
- What other reason might you have for attending this event?
- What is your niche?
- What’s the best way for you to achieve your goal at your next networking event?

The New DABGO North America

July 29th, 2007 by Jesper Løvendahl

It is with great joy that I can welcome you to the new DABGO universe. DABGO North America is not yet 1 year old, and has already expanded to 3 European countries. And I hope that many more will follow. Thank you for your continuous support and assistance in growing the DABGO network. Special thanks to Dan Trampedach who has been a driving force in creating the new DABGO infrastructure and a great help in expanding DABGO to Europe. Dan lives in Switzerland where he is the local DABGO Manager, e-mail dan@dabgo.ch.

Our ambition for DABGO is now to be operational in at least the 10 most important Danish export markets before year 2009, and thereby contribute to an increase in Danish export, the acceleration of Danish business peoples’ international careers, and an increase in international investments in Danish companies and Denmark.

We are looking for funding from institutions – i.e. Udenrigsministeriet, globaliseringsrådet, eksportrådet and similar organizations – as well as various trusts, who would be interested in supporting the growth of DABGO globally. The funding will go to adding more value to the entire network, and coordinate local networking events with focus on generating new connections and business opportunities. If you know of anyone who can be of help in accelerating this process, then please have them contact me at jesper@dabgo.com.

If you have any suggestions, ideas, comments or an article you would like posted on DABGO, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I wish you a wonderful summer and great success.

Sincerely,

Jesper Løvendahl

Networking In The 21st Century

July 23rd, 2007 by Jesper Løvendahl

The US is now Denmark’s 3rd largest export market, and the possibility of doing business in the US has never been greater. Many companies in the US operate with “gate keepers,” people hired to keep you from reaching the decision maker in the company you wish to partner with. The solution to getting through this barrier is networking. The article (click on the link) “Networking in the 21st Century with DABGO” describes how important networking is, who should network, how to network and what DABGO can do to improve your network.

The Art of Schmoozing

July 21st, 2007 by Jesper Løvendahl

The Guy Kawasaki Theory of Schmoozing version 1.0 was ad hoc: get to know the people that you need for a specific deal. It was short-term and focused.Version 2.0 is ad infinitum–maybe even ad nauseam. It’s taken me twenty years, but I’ve figured out that it’s much easier to make a sale, build partnerships, create joint ventures–you name it–with people that you already know than with people you just met.
